It’s the news of today that has stunned the entire world. The morning of Wednesday, Israel’s military announced a new series of strikes in Tehran.

The announcement was characterized as being one of the most violent attacks since the war began.

The Israeli military has said that it targeted structures that were linked to Iran’s Basij force which forms part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

It also targeted sites connected to Iran’s internal security force.

Explosions were heard in various areas of Tehran including the eastern part of the city.

Israeli strikes also targeted targets in other cities. The reports confirm the attacks on Karaj in addition to Isfahan. It is believed that the holy city of Qom has also been targeted.

A structure was connected to a panel of clerics that would select Iran’s next leader.

Air-to-Air Combat: First in the Conflict

In the latest news on the battleground, Israel said one of its jets sank the Iranian aircraft. It was the first air-to-air combat kill of a human aircraft during the entire war.

Israel will commemorate the aircraft with a victory eagle.

Lebanon Also Hit

Israel also conducted strikes in Lebanon in the past, focusing on Hezbollah. Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee has warned residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs to leave.

Lebanese health officials estimate that at fifty people were killed during recent attacks.

Why Did the US and Israel Attack Iran

This is the latest news that a lot of people are speculating about. The US, as well as Israel, launched the operation on February 28th, 2026.

The operation is referred to as “Operation Epic Fury” by the US as well as “Operation Roaring Lion” by Israel.

The stated objective was to end Iran’s missile program and it’s navy, as well as deter Iran from ever creating nuclear weapons.

The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, died during the first strike. He was 86.

President Donald Trump said he believed Iran was planning to strike at the US first. Trump claimed the strike was a defensive one. Secretary of Defense Hegseth has stated that the US has “only just beginning” and intends to go on until it is necessary.

Iran Fights Back Across the Region

Missiles and Drones Hit Gulf Nations

Iran has launched several drones and missiles in the wake of countries such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE being struck.

A container ship was struck while traveling across the Strait of Hormuz.

Six US service members were killed in these attacks. Four of them were killed in the drone strike in Kuwait. Trump has warned that more deaths are likely.

Trump is warning that additional American deaths are possible. NATO has intercepted a ballistic rocket that was launched by Iran before it entered Turkish airspace.

The rate of missile launches in Iran has decreased significantly. As per US General Caine, the number of missile launches is down by 86 percent, and drone strikes are down by 73 percent, compared to the start of the war.

This suggests that Iran’s supply of weapons is at a low.

Strait of Hormuz Nearly Closed

The Strait of Hormuz carries about 20% of all oil consumed in the world. Transport through it is almost stopped. The price of oil has risen dramatically in the last few days, with US gas prices increasing by around 20 cents in only two days.

Stock markets across Asia have also plunged as record sales were observed in Seoul.

What Is Happening Inside Iran Right Now

Tehran, a city with nine million people, is like a ghost town. People are huddled inside their homes. Internet accessibility has been restricted for more than 100 hours. Banks have imposed a ban on cash withdrawals.

The Iranian Assembly of Experts is meeting to elect the new supreme leader. The reports suggest Mojtaba Khamenei who is the grandson of former leader might be chosen. But some clerics worry that the name might cause him to be a target.

How Does This Affect India

The ship had been to Visakhapatnam which is an Indian port town, to attend the event of a naval inspection only a few weeks prior to.

India imports a substantial portion of the oil it consumes from Gulf region. In the Gulf region, there is a Strait of Hormuz, now almost closed is an important route for tankers carrying oil. Rising crude oil prices globally will impact the price of fuel in India. In the past, the Indian government has advised its citizens living in their region in the Middle East to stay safe and to follow the official guidelines.

Many thousands of Indians are employed in Gulf countries such as those of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. These countries all have faced Iranian missile and drone attacks. In India, the Indian government is monitoring the situation.
